  • Personal Fitness - Whether you are an athlete practicing for a sport or interested in earning the Merit Badge,  our counselors will help tailor a workout for your needs and instruct on nutrition and fitness principles. 

  • Spin Wheel/Sand Art - Use a spin wheel and paint to create works of art or jar your favorite colors of sand for a new art project.  

  • Disc Golf - Check out the Echockotee Disc Golf course through our 80 acres of Florida woodlands. 

  • Harvard Club - engage in the finer points of life, play various lawn games including badminton, croquet, ladder golf, bocce ball, and more, ending with a Friday tea party. 

  • Camping 101 - Learn the basics of camping, if you are confident in your skills you may want to try the Thursday Night Campout! 

  • Aquatics Camp Campout is now on Thursday evenings: 

For the camper that cannot get enough.
Join us Thursday evening during your camp week as an individual or in a group for the following activities:

5-6 pm: Set up campsite.
6-7 pm Ride on sailboats and motorboats.
7-8 pm: Cookout dinner with Hot Dogs, chips, vegetable,  soda/water.
8-9:30 pm: Outdoor Movie with popcorn.
9:30-10:15 pm: Campfire with Smore's.
10:15-10:30 pm: Wash up and prepare for lights out.
10:30 pm: Lights Out!

FRIDAY
7-7:30 am: Wake up and Wash Up
7:30-8:15 am: Breakfast
8:15-8:30 am: Meet at Camp Cove and start camp day!

Cost: $50 . 
Limited camping equipment (tents and sleeping bags) available for rent for $10. 
Maximum 30 campers per week.  Overnight counselors will supervise campers.

Swim Test - BSA Swimmer Classification

All aquatic related classes require campers to pass the BSA Swimmer test. A description of the swim test can be found here. Those campers not meeting the “Swimmer Classification” requirements will take lessons at the pool until they pass the Swimmer test. No lake or pool activities will be permitted until a swimmer classification has been achieved.

Schedules

All activities have limits based on staff to camper ratio or equipment restrictions. Activities are filled on a first come basis. Please sign up early. Paying in full will lock in your schedule.

Weather

Outdoor/Aquatic activities are not permitted during certain types of weather. Boy Scout policy and all available resources are used to determine closing outside activities. Each area has a “rainy day” plan and preplanned procedures in place to handle severe weather. 

 


 Aquatics


All aquatic related classes require campers to pass the
BSA Swimmer test (BSA Swimmer Classification).


Learn to Swim Beginner Swim Lessons

This class is designed for campers who enjoy getting in the pool, but don't know how to swim like a fish.  Our staff will help each camper move past the doggie paddle to master basic swim skills and water safety.


Learn to Swim Intermediate Swim Lessons

This class is designed for campers who have the basic swim strokes down pretty well, but are ready to kick it up a notch to the next level.  Water safety and stroke technique refinement will be the focus.


Canoeing Merit Badge

Learn to use a "J Stroke" and self rescue techniques. Campers will learn canoeing skills for a lifetime. Must have BSA Swimmer Classification. BSA Merit Badge.


Catamaran Sailing Fun

Experience the thrill of hitting top speeds on a 18' catamaran as you help your captain navigate Doctors Inlet. Must have BSA Swimmer Classification.


Kayaking Merit Badge

Wish you could kayak the St. Johns River? Hone your kayaking skills here at camp. Campers will receive basic kayak orientation, safety, stokes, and rescue techniques so they can paddle away for a good time. Must have BSA Swimmer Classification. BSA Merit Badge.


Lifesaving Merit Badge

Image:Lifesaving.jpgAre you ready for some lifesaving? This is a hands-on class that will show you how to be successful in an emergency situation. You will learn in water rescues, first aid, CPR and more! Must pass BSA Swimmer test. BSA Merit Badge.


Motorboating Merit Badge

Think you are ready to captain your own boat? This is a hands-on class that show you how to safely maintain, maneuver, and moor a boat from our fleet. Age restricted to 12 years or older. Must have BSA Swimmer Classification. BSA Merit Badge


Open Swim

Splash, dive, or relax with free time in the pool.


Paddle Craft Fun

Enjoy canoeing around the waterfront and take short paddle to explore the Ghost ship. Campers will receive basic safety and skill instruction then paddle away. Must have BSA Swimmer Classification.


Pool Time Fun

Small Boat Sailing Merit Badge

Master the winds and sail away! Captain your boat with a partner and learn to sail an Aquafin. In this intensive class future sailors will spend 2 hours each day learning to get around the inlet on their own. Open only to 11 year olds and above. Must have BSA Swimmer Classification. BSA Merit Badge.


Standup Paddleboarding

Stand up paddle boarding (SUP), (Hoe he'e nalu in the Hawaiian language) are sports originating in Hawaii as an off-shoot of surfing. They enable surfers to paddle farther into the ocean than is typical or to paddle standing up as a sport unto itself.


Swimming Merit Badge

Image:Swimming.jpgDid you know that you can use your pants as a flotation device? Try it out and a whole lot more in our swimming class! Must have long pants to complete requirements. Must have BSA Swimmer Classification. Cub Scout Webelos Aquanat Activity Badge. BSA Merit Badge.


Tubing Fun

Try to ride out the pain our Motorboat drivers dish out. Hit the water on one of our Airhead tubes and take the ride of your life. Must have BSA Swimmer Classification.


Water Sports Merit Badge

Ever heard of Noah Flegel? Want to hit the wake like him? Here is your chance! Hit the water in one of our ski boats and make it happen! Choose either wakeboard or water skies, you can even trade during class. This activity takes a 2 hour block and you must be at least 11 years old. Must have BSA Swimmer Classification. BSA Merit Badge.

 Shooting Sports

Archery Fun

Archery Merit Badge

Have you dreamed of being William Tell and shooting the apple? Learn what SNSPDARF means, make your own arrow to take home, and hit the bull's eye. This activity will teach shooting principles and includes class work. (Scouts wishing to qualify may need to schedule extra practice time in the Archery Fun class). Must be at least 11 years old. BSA Merit Badge.

 BB Fun

Shoot'em up at the BB's range. Campers will learn basic safety and have a blast hitting the target.

 Climbing

Climbing Fun

After safety briefing campers will enjoy lots of time "hanging" around the Tower.

Climbing Merit Badge

An in-depth and intense course that will have your campers wishing Florida had mountains to climb. This is a 2 hour class. Your camper will not only learn knots and rigging, but will actually learn to work the wall and help coach others. Must be at least 12 years old. BSA Merit Badge.

  Science World

Chemistry Merit Badge

How does a Cartesian Diver work? What happens when you place an iron nail in copper sulfate? Learn the answers to these mysteries, how to use chemicals safely, and much more in Chemistry. Some research is required. BSA Merit Badge.

Environmental Science Merit Badge

While earning the Environmental Science merit badge, Scouts will get a taste of what it is like to be an environmental scientist, making observations and carrying out experiments to investigate the natural world.

Nature Fun

Nature Fun- Camp Echockotee is a fantastic place to be "one" with nature! Get to know the native plants and animals by getting out in the middle of their world. Have fun with our Science Folks! Cub Scout Wildlife Conservation Belt Loop.

Nature Merit Badge

Birds, mammals, reptiles, plants, OH MY! Get to know them all so well!
Must complete ONE of the following as a prerequisite: Requirement 4a or 4d or 4e or 4f. BSA Merit Badge

Robotics Merit Badge

If you could build a robot, what would it do? Learn to program our Mindstorm NXT robots to do your bidding. This is an intense and fast paced class. Research is required. BSA Merit Badge.

Space Exploration Merit Badge

Build a rocket and launch it into space or at least 150' up into the sky. Learn about space study and dream of working at NASA. BSA Merit Badge.

Wacky Science Fun

Explore the scientific method with explosions, gooey sliminess, and much more. We try a different science project every day!

First Aid Merit Badge

First Class Requirements

Complete a whole bunch First Class Requirements over the summer. From knots, to first aid, to internet safety, have fun while getting closer to earning your rank badge! This is partial completion only.

Fishing Merit Badge

Learn from one of our fishing nuts how to rig and cast. Try to catch a bass. We encourage campers to bring their own poles for the week. BSA Merit Badge

Learn basic sanitation rules and safety procedures in cooking. Learn fun recipes you can try at home!

Dance Fun

Learn to do the "Cotton Eyed Joe" and "The Electric Slide"- maybe even a little "Gangnam Style" on the side. Make it happen at your next dance and show others how to get it done!

 

 Disc Golf

A game in which a concave plastic disc is thrown into each of a series of metal baskets situated on an outdoor course, the object being to complete the course using the fewest possible throws.

Fish’n Fun/Sports Fun

Flag Football

Flag football is played with 9-11players wearing two flags on each player. The flags are attached to a belt. It is illegal for anyone to attach the flags so they will be unable to come loose when pulled on. To stop advancement of the ball carrier, you must pull one of the flags off and drop it on the ground. Touch football is played when the defensive player uses one or two hands to tag the person with the ball on the back. It illegal to push, tackle or trip players with or without the ball.

Gaga Ball

Ga-ga (lit. "touch-touch") is a variant of dodgeball. The game combines dodging, striking, running and jumping with the object of hitting opponents with a ball below the knee while avoiding being hit. The game can be played by groups of individual players, teams and in one-on-one matches. The game may sometimes be referred to as "Israeli dodge-ball".

Personal Fitness

Personal fitness is an individual effort and desire to be the best one can be. Regardless of their current levels of personal fitness campers will be in learn how to get in better shape, feel better about themselves, have more energy, and gain self-confidence in their overall abilities.

What kind of sparkly masterpieces can you make? Don't just stop at beads and emroidery floss, get creative with our handicraft crew!

Leatherwork Merit Badge

Learn the artistry of leather working! Our handicraft crew will help you through two fun projects of your choice from our Trading Post. BSA Merit Badge.

Photography Merit Badge

 Beyond capturing family memories, photography offers a chance to be creative. Many photographers use photography to express their creativity, using lighting, composition, depth, color, and content to make their photographs into more than snapshots. Good photographs tell us about a person, a news event, a product, a place, a scientific breakthrough, an endangered animal, or a time in history.

 

Wood Carving Merit Badge

Learn to carve wood safely while making two cool neckerchief slides. Choose from a variety in our Trading Post. Must be at least 11 years old and have earned your Totin' Chip (requirement 2a). BSA Merit Badge.
